Daphne Wyatt became a Christian in 1954 through the influence of her local Church in Welling, Kent

She read history at London University, graduating in 1961. After an interesting year in the National Assistance Board as a visiting officer ‘assessing need’ she went to Bristol University and qualified as a teacher in 1963. For a brief time she taught RE examination classes in a Grammar School but most of her teaching has been within the church – Sunday School, Crusaders, Bible study groups- and then after gaining the London University Diploma in Theology in 1984 tutoring a Bishop’s certificate group in Salisbury diocese.

In 1962 Daphne married Roy who was then a surveyor. Life changed radically in 1976 when Roy was ordained. They have a daughter who is a veterinary surgeon and pathologist and a son who works as a business consultant in Singapore and Shanghai.

In 1997 Daphne became a Reader and worked alongside Roy in Welford on Avon parish. In 2005 when Roy retired they came to Ilminster.

Nigel Lusby was born and brought up in the town of Caistor in North Lincolnshire, about 12 miles from Grimsby. After education at Caistor Grammar School and obtaining a degree in Food Science at Nottingham University, he commenced work for a food company in Leeds and has been working in the food industry ever since.

Nigel met his wife, Lesley, at Nottingham - they now have two children, Mark and Christopher. The family moved to Somerset in 1991, living first in Chard and then buying their present home in Ilminster in 1993. It was at this point that attendance at the Minster became a regular occurrence and the desire to become more involved took off. Having trained for Readership for three years, Nigel was licensed at Wells Cathedral by Bishop Peter in October 2002.

Hobbies and interests (when work allows!) are horse racing, steam railways, football and bird watching.

Rob was born, raised and educated in Bristol.  After studying in London he became an industrial chemist.  Gradually the allure of computing dragged him in the IT Industry where, after learning about hardware and software implementations, he made the 'people issues' of large scale computing his specialist subject.  Rob has travelled widely to lecture on business risks associated with global networks.

More importantly, Rob became a Christian in his teens.  Never able to keep quiet for long, he led bible studies and youth groups in churches in Bristol, Clevedon, and Weston-Super-Mare before moving into this area in 1990.

The path towards becoming a reader probably started at Christchurch, W-s-M, but it gained momentum at St Peters, Ilton.  He studied for a certificate in Christian Studies through the distance learning facilities of St John's Theological College, Nottingham.  Then he attended the Diocesan Readers Course at Wells.  He was licensed along with 24 other readers, including Nigel Lusby from the Minster, in October 2002 by Bishop Peter.

Rob is a Diocesan Coordinator for the Children's Society.  He also plays a part in running this web site and he assists with the service schedules across the group.
